Heater Allen: Mediator

I picked up Heater Allen: Mediator at the local grocery on a whim. I knew nothing about the brewery, but was curious. The beer is a micro-micro brewery. They only sell in a handful of stores. Brother B and I tasted the brew. We bother admired the dark red hue of the liquid in our glass.  Bother B admired the doppelbock. It hand a hint of chocolate and was not overly tart with subtle sweet malts. He though the beer was very hoppy: a classic doppelbock.  He recommends the beer.

To me, the beer had the tartness and sweetness of a green apple. It's a good fish and chips beer. I can appreciate the quality of the Mediator, but it is not my type of beer.

Off All the beer

Of all the beer I have had lately.

The stand outs were: (all from a trip to Bend)
Laurelwood- Espresso Stout (bottle) - nice and dark and rich, better than anything I had the one trip to the Laurelwood. I wish I had this on tap year round.

Bend Brewing- Coconut Cream Stout on Nitro (on tap) - smooth dark, foam had the greatest aroma. malty with a smooth flavor, but lighter alcohol content.

Bend Brewing Outback 2008 (on tap)- i didn't have the 2007 and 2009 version of this cask age high alcohol drink, but the 08 was great. I am not usually a fan of raisins, but the wood flavor and the original flavor of the beer was great. a brandy snifter was all that was necessary.

Cascade Lakes Brewing - 20" Brown (on tap) - better than I remember and so unlike browns I have had. I was recently to avoid the Bend Cascade Lakes Pub and go straight to the Redmond one. Better beer and food. Considering how good the Monkey Face Porter Used to be.

Bruddha has now been given an all access pass to the site to post. Good Luck. I may request he pick up bottles of local beer to horde for me.
