Wassail

Wassail-Winter Ale-Full Sail -Hood River, Oregon. More winter beer, Hooray. The wife saw it on sale and grabbed a six packs, knowing I like to experiment. This was a pretty good beer. It has a smell of cranberries, but not so tart to be put off, although I was a little hesitant. The first taste and I was hooked. It has a sweetness and a tartness in each taste. It was drinkable for more than one. A well balanced holiday beer, with smooth flavor. I had it in 12 oz bottle and recommend it.

Big Black Jack

Big Black Jack-Imperial Chocolate Pumpkin Porter from Oakshire-Eugene. This was a great beer. It had a rich dark smell that translated into the flavors. The smooth, dark, rich, a little chewy, flavor was complimented by just the right amount of good pumpkin. I didn't detect any cinnamon until the end of the bottle. It was a 220z, recommended from friends who had it on tap and said it was even bette.

Dubhe

Dubhe-Imperial Black IPA from Uinta Brewing Company. with 9.2% alcohol, this beer gets your attention. The beer had a great hops aroma with a smooth taste. Not overpowering from alcohol or hops perspective. I was surprised of the alcohol, because the brewery is in Utah. If you are IPA/hops/black ale fan try it. It was in 12 oz bottle and worth the $2.

Winter Beers

Winter Beers are here to be sampled. Ones I have had so far and enjoyed Jubeale from Deschutes, which has skipped the good one year, bad the next year formula that it had been following for the past 4 years. The winter ale from Alaskan- who can resist spruce tips in beer? Winterhook from Red Hook. Humbug Porter from Portland/Mactarnahans
